First announcement and tickets on sale: next week

August 18th, 2008 by goatlady

WOA 2008

According to a news item on the Wacken site, pre-sale of normal “all in” tickets start next week. There will also be a band announcement.

Excited, much?

Which bands could possibly top the 2008 lineup? This is the 20th anniversary year – no doubt they’ll want to make it special. Iron Maiden was a pretty big deal (even though I have issues with that choice which I have not blogged yet but will eventually). Some people are saying Judas Priest. Some are saying Saxon (who have hardly missed a year in the entire festival’s history). Some people are saying Manowar but I can’t tell if they’re joking or not – because I’m not directly German by birth, I have no comprehension of Manowar. (Seriously, I don’t get it. If anyone can explain, please do).

Whoever they have, I really am not concerned – we’ll be there flying the Aussie flag regardless.

Hey! I’ve been to W:O:A 2008 too. I was also at the warm up party at the Headbangers’ Ballroom. Maybe we even met :) 2008 was my third time in Wacken, and I’m going back again in 2009 (if the tickets don’t get sold out before I can buy one!). A friend of mine also has a website about Wacken, but it’s not much of a blog…more of a newbie guide (in italian only by the way…). Nice site! Keep it up!

Hey Kay I love you’re blog. Nice & orderly, easy read, with text and pics distributed nicely. Great job.

    Although.….….…..

I would LOVE you to post something about Maiden, as you said you “would eventually”. At the age of 39, they still have a soft-spot in my heart. Being a teen & livin’ in the U.S.A., they took us by storm. Every single boy my age had their pissed-off-ness fulfilled by these guys. And when they peaked at “Piece of Mind”, here anyway (my favorite) (or do you spell it “favOUrite”), it was truly something special.

Anyways would love to hear about your “issues” with them, or them being booked of rnext year. I’m not fucking with you I think your great, I just never understand why some people don’t like or “get” some bands — but it happens for whatever reason.….…For instance (and I should be shot for this) I don’t like Judas Priest. OK maybe “Hell Bent for Leather”. But to me, their albums weren’t full of solid shit. One or two good-to-great songs and then fell flat. I don’t know, Tipton and Downing didn’t impress me. .…..But Adrienne Smith and Dave Murry from Maiden sure kicked my ass. I’m a guitar freak, maybe that’s it. I don’t just go for tone or distortion, they have to PLAY along with their own unique tone. Priest had the singer there, but Maiden to me had the whole package. To me anyway.
